G.P.O. is the event department of the Grand Pavois. This association was launched in 1973; and created a successful sailing events department that organizes boat shows or international yachting races.
For several years now, the Association Grand Pavois has opened to new horizons, taking the whole or in part, of the organization of water sports events, national and international, particularly related to races and economic development initiatives focused on the international marine industry (boat shows, charter activities...).
To achieve this aim, the Grand Pavois has created a Department, GPO, which was already successful in organizing La Rochelle’s stopovers of the Whitbread and the Volvo Ocean Race, the Solitaire du Figaro (start village), the BT Global Challenge, La Charente -Maritime - Bahia Transat 6.50 (2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009), the Défi Atlantique (transatlantic race qualifying for the Vendée Globe 2004), the organization of Voiles des Neiges in La Clusaz (2006 and 2007), the Mini Pavois (2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009 - qualifying race for the Transat 6.50), the Grand Prix de France Formula 1 Powerboating (2007 in the Port Authority of La Rochelle - La Pallice), tour of Maud Fontenoy’s L'Oreal Paris around the French coast, village of the Grande Traversée de l’Atlantique between La Rochelle and Quebec (2008), Sibex - China (Shenzhen) International Boat Show (2009)...
In 2010, G.P.O. will support two types of events: sporting and economic with the boat show in China. Calendar: the organization in May of the Mini Pavois (qualifying race in the Classe Mini calendar); in July, the organization of the Class 40 World Championship in Gijon (Spain); in October, the start of the Velux 5 Oceans in La Rochelle and in November, GPO will also be responsible for co-organizing Sibex 2009, the International afloat Boat Show in Shenzhen (China).
